Science of Stillness – Who and Why

Whenever a new blog is launched its creators have wild and vivid dreams for the news and ideas they are going to share with the world. Tom and I are amongst that crowd and the launch of Science of Stillness is definitely a dream for us.

Where we differ, is that this blog is not about us… it’s about you.

Having said that it is important for our readers to know who we are and why we have launched Science of Stillness.

In a world that moves at the speed of sound and where everything just keeps getting faster and faster, the need for Stillness has never been more apparent.

The upcoming launch of Science of Stillness Program is our way to fill a need that exists amongst all of us.

At the end of the day, we are just like you. Normal family guys who have experienced joy, pain and every emotion in between. I thought I had it all figured out. Amazing job earning amazing money (I used to sell houses in Sydney for anywhere between $5M – $20M), great wife and son and house… and all that jazz we aspire to.

And then, it all slowly started crumbling around me. While I was being awarded in Australia by the Real Estate Institute as the top real estate agent (you can check out my super cool acceptance photo here), my health started to deteriorate.

How could this be?
As this blog builds and builds, you will discover I have been obsessed with health for a very long time! When most kids were playing their Atari at 12 y.o, I was reading books about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and the Hunza Tribes of Pakistan living until 120 years of age.

I was always super fit and always super healthy. Or so I thought.

One day I woke up with the world’s worst headache. I never get headaches! Perhaps it was the stress of my marriage that was breaking down?

No, this was serious physical pain…

I plodded along for a few days until it all reached a climax with me passed out in the ER and waking up 3 hours later in intensive care. It seems a nasty little virus had triggered off a chain reaction of inflammation leading to Meningitis.

Ouch.. that really hurt. And so did the bed sores I got from lying completely still for 2 weeks.

In a nutshell, while I thought my health couldn’t be better, here I was having to literally rebuild my body from the ground up. “Easy, I know all about this stuff!” Wrong.

While all my life I had aimed for physiological perfection, I had disregarded the most important ingredient needed for optimal health and happiness.

Stillness.
Enter Tom…

Tom Cronin

Science of Stillness.  Wow, there’s a science to stillness? Stillness is stillness isn’t  it?

Well, like any scientific evidence there needs to be theory and practical proof to validate such a reality and verify it.

You can read book after book on ‘stillness’ or ‘being in the now’, however unless you actually experience it, it’s just a mental concept. In fact, one case in history, a friend asked me if he could borrow Eckhart Tolle’s ‘Power of Now’. He got half way thru it and gave it back, saying “I understand what he’s talking about, but I just don’t experience it”.

So the theory was there, but not practical reality. Which in the end, will always debunk the concept for the observer if they cannot experience it.

This is where Science Of Stillness comes in.

My good friend Nick Broadhurst and I have collaborated to deliver you, not only packages of wisdom and insights,  reviews of detoxes, superfoods, weight loss tips, muscle gain tips and stretching advice, but also teach you one of the most amazing techniques of stillness that enables real ‘peace of mind”. And where there is peace of mind, there is “peace of body”.

Between us we have spent over 30 yrs collectively researching how to optimise all areas of our lives. It’s this research that we will be repackaging, condensing and sharing here with you.

Personally I have spent 25 yrs of thorough research. The first 10 years I learnt how to create suffering, sickness, anxiety and depression. The next 15 years were spent researching on how to create harmony, vitality, youthfulness, inner joy and abundance.

Those earlier 10 years I was a slave to the realm of desires, addiction, late nights, hard work and minimal rest. Whoa, it seemed like fun at the time but like anything not in tune with the Laws of Nature it came with a hefty price tag. Overtime insomnia, stress, anxiety gave way to debilitating panic attacks and depression. The nervous system collapsed and meeting daily demands became near impossible. Leading physicians told me I have to accept that I had a nervous disposition and that anti-depressants will be required on a long term, if not, indefinite basis.

My inner voice somehow just didn’t vibe this. I knew deep down this wasn’t natural. So I began my next round of research, which was how to ‘rebalance the extremely imbalanced’.

This was the cue for my second phase of research, how to find inner harmony, physical well being and a happier life.

The most significant shift occurred when I learnt an ancient technique of stillness that literally changed my life.  This technique was so simple, so easy, so effortless and so incredibly transformative I just couldn’t believe everyone wasn’t doing it.

It put my mind and body into such deep rest that its own in built intelligence did all the rest! Slowly, day by day, all the anomalies were ironed out. The upgrade from subhuman to superhuman was underway.

There began the next 15 years of research which we’ll be presenting here in this blog.

We hope you enjoy them.

Please feel free to make comments and ask questions. One thing we want to emphasise is that we are not doctors, naturopaths, nutritionists or psychiatrists. This is our own personal research and if some things we suggest or advise don’t resonate with you, then leave it behind. If it does resonate with you, do some research and try it out.

Be open to change.
