Why 10 Hours Sleep In 3 days Is Awesomeness!
"My body is tired but my spirits are high!" When writing this post, I had just returned home from a quick turn around trip to Awesomeness Fest in Maui.
If you haven't heard of Awesomeness Fest it's a non for profit 4 day gathering of some of the world's pioneers, visionaries and leading entrepreneurs, organised by the highly inspirational Mindvalley.
I was fortunate enough to be invited to this incredible experience along with my One Great Find and Science of Stillness Co-Founder, Nick Broadhurst. Unfortunately for me my time was limited to 2 days of the 4 day event due to other commitments, however those 2 days were possibly one of the most transformative experiences of my life.
I went to Maui having no expectations. I arrived at the conference on Friday after an overnight flight and 2 hours sleep to join everyone at the start of Lisa Nichols (of "The Secret" fame) powerful talk whereby she had us breaking down our limiting mental barriers and screaming affirmations from the top of our lungs (Sshhh, but between you and me, yes, there were some watery eyes. Maybe it was the fatigue ??).
And so the tone for the next 2 days was set... break free and expand.
Some of the highlights of the conference were writing a complete book outline with Michael Drew, aka Mr X, in 15 minutes, doing a personal profile with Blair Dunkley, sitting in the hotel room of Lisa Nichols and watching her tears roll down her cheeks as she shared, with a small intimate number of us her personal stories
Then there was listening to the inspiring Vishen Lakhiani, the founder of Mindvalley, the extravagant and fearless Yanik Silver, Robert Hirsch, hanging out with the charismatic Jonathon Budd, the soft and graceful Tiffany Persons, and all the amazing Mindvalley and Mind Movies guys.
One of the two main things that I noticed about all the people at A-fest was they were in the 'zone'.
What is the zone ?
It's that place where your capabilities are aligned, and shoulder to shoulder with, your actual doingness. It's when you have broken free of that conditioning and limitation of our past, that "old story" of who we were told we are, and pragmatically go about manifesting that latent inner potential we all have.
Their stories weren't about upper class childhoods, distinctions at school, or harvard scholarships. They were stories of hardship, fear, challenge, torment, abuse or just simple middle class existence.
But one thing they all shared was an inner belief and willingness. A drive and a free flowing expression of their capabilities.
One other insight that I took away from the conference was that this highly successful and motivating group of people all shared one similar quality, which I feel was the basis of the A-fest model. They are inspired and driven not by how much they can gain for themselves, but by what contribution they can make to the world.
This being the foundation for action garners huge support from Nature and the process flows more in tune with the natural underlying law of evolution. As a result, the rainforest and indigeneous tribes of the Amazon are supported through the great work of Lynne Twist and the Pachamama Alliance, the children of war ravaged Sierra Leone are assisted through Shine on Sierre Leone under the guidance of Tiffany Persons, and the local disadvantaged youths of Maui are offered some guidance and mentoring.
These are just a few of the many areas where contributions were made.
When the basis for your success is the well being of others, then your success will naturally flourish.
So if you're looking for some inspiration put aside a few days in your calendar around November next year and stay tuned to all the great initiatives that Mindvalley are creating.
